To enter the contest, consumers submitted an essay through the contest Web site describing why they deserve a “royal throne.” Pinkston’s missive, titled “My Royal Throne,” featured a poem dedicated to her need for bathroom restoration and featured photos of a bathroom in serious disarray. Pinkston will now have the opportunity to remodel her bathroom with the $10,000 grand prize.

Five first prizes of $2,000 were also awarded to Jacqueline H., New York, N.Y.; Jean D., Exeter, R.I.; Nancy M., Plymouth, Minn.; Elizabeth Ann S., Cleveland, Ohio; and Cherl O., Jamestown, N.Y.
